James Corden joined Coldplay onstage last night (August 21) to perform a cover of Prince's 'Nothing Compares 2 U'.

The Late Late Show host joined Chris Martin and co at the Hollywood Rose Bowl to kick off the song, which was later made famous by Sinead O'Connor, before the group joined in to sing with him.

"We're here at the Rose Bowl. I'll be honest, I didn't know how big it was when I said, 'yes,'" Corden quipped. "I'm a little nervous, but thanks to the four of you on behalf of this audience ...for this incredible night that you have given us all."

Martin added: "This next one goes out to Prince everybody. It's very important."

After the track finished, the singer presented Corden with a cake before he urged the crowd to sing 'Happy Birthday' to the presenter, who turned 38 today (August 22)
